Our Government
The City of Carl Junction government is organized under a Mayor, City Administrator and eight-member Board of Aldermen. The Mayor is elected at-large for a two-year term. Two board members are elected from each of the four wards on an alternating basis. The four wards are divided geographically:
Ward I: The area north of Pennell Street
Ward II: The area north of Center Creek and south of Pennell Street
Ward III: The Briarbrook area
Ward IV: The Country Club Estates and Oscie Ora Acres areas
The current mayor and council members, along with their contact information, can be found here.
Planning and Zoning
Recommendations for planning and zoning issues are made by the City Planning and Zoning Commission to the Board of Aldermen. Code variances and zoning appeals are heard by the Board of Adjustments. Both of these groups are made up of volunteers appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of Aldermen. If you would like to volunteer for Planning and Zoning, contact City Hall at (417) 649-7237 or email Mayor Mark Powers or City Administrator Steve Lawver.
