Annual Backflow Certification Inspection
You may have received a letter recently about backflow certifications. If you have an irrigation system, fire sprinkler system, or meet certain other criteria, you are required by the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources to have an annual Backflow Certification Inspection performed by a state certified inspector.
Backflow, or the reverse flow of contaminated water into a potable water distribution system, is caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. State Regulations require all backflow prevention assemblies to be inspected and tested by certified testers.
You may find commonly asked questions and answers from the Missouri DNR concerning backflow testing here.
You may find a list of certified backflow prevention assembly testers on the on the DNR Website.
